If it suits your needs, our expert in-house studio can provide full design and production of both labels and covers, in addition to production. Alternatively, you can use our template to develop your own design.

In short, you can count on EntertainOne’s exacting standards to deliver precisely the professional packaging presentation you require for your video, from start to finish – whatever your needs.

DVD covers

Your DVD will be packaged in a standard black Amaray-style case, with a full color cover wrapped around the front, back and spine. The front and back of the case can be customized with your own image(s) and/or information.

VHS covers

We use a similar black plastic case for your VHS, and a similar wrap-around cover, based upon the same image as your DVD.

Preparing your cover image

You have a choice when it comes to your cover image or images:

You can use one image to cover the entire case

OR

You can use separate images for the front and back covers

NOTE: If you choose not to provide a front cover image, we will use a text-only layout. However, since this results in a somewhat stark, unprofessional presentation, we strongly recommend the use of artwork if possible.

Using one image for the entire cover

Whether you are preparing an image for your DVD or for your VHS cover, EntertainOne’s design template makes the process simple.

Please note that the dimensions for the DVD and VHS cases are different.

  • DVD: 3155 x 2086 pixels
  • VHS: 2968 x 2236 pixels

The templates for both are similar, and easy to follow, using Photoshop and a JPEG or GIF image. Please do not use animated GIFs. The image dpi is ignored.

Step 1
Paste your artwork on the ‘Place Artwork Here’ area.

Step 2
The ‘guides’ layer is right above this layer, and is set to 50%. Use this to line up your artwork with the front, back and spine.

Step 3
If you do not want the DVD/VHS logo on the cover, hide the ‘logo – spine’ and ‘logo – back’ layers.

Step 4
Once complete, hide the ‘guides’ layer and save in JPEG, with the quality set to ‘maximum’ (level 10).

NOTE: We cannot accept full cover images over 4 MB

Using a separate front cover image + Title only. No text.
We use the same image for both DVD and for VHS front covers.

PLEASE NOTE: This means you must avoid using any logos that are specific to either DVD or VHS.

When you use a separate image for your front cover – whether for DVD or for VHS - there will be a narrow white border around the edge of the image.

Please note that the dimensions for the DVD and VHS cases are different.

  • DVD: 3155 x 2086 pixels
  • VHS: 2968 x 2236 pixels

If you wish to compromise between the sizes, 1256 x 1997 pixels can work for both DVD and VHS covers.

In all instances, the maximum acceptable size is 1700 x 2675. The maximum file size is 2 MB. All images must be JPEG or GIF.

Since we use the same image for both DVD and VHS, you only need to follow one template. The process is simple and straightforward, using Photoshop.

Separate front cover image + Title and text
The process is exactly the same as for a front cover image with no text, with one exception:
Since the image does not fill the entire cover, the image dimensions are different.

  • DVD only: 1275 pixels wide x 1725
  • VHS only: 1238 x 1762
  • Compromise for DVD and VHS: 1256 X 1743

Since we use the same image for both DVD and VHS, remember to avoid any logos that are specific to either format.

Separate back cover image
If you wish, you can also use a separate image on the top two thirds of the back of your cover. The lower portion is reserved for copyright information, barcode, etc.

If you do not supply an image for the back, we will use a text-only layout, using the description and credits. This can work well on the back cover, producing excellent text print quality.

Please remember again that the dimensions for DVD and VHS are slightly different:

  • DVD only: 1275 pixels wide x 1725
  • VHS only: 1238 x 1762
  • Compromise for DVD and VHS: 1256 X 1743

Since we use the same image for both DVD and VHS, also remember to avoid any logos that are specific to either format.
